Simulation of Multi-muon Events from EAS at Shallow Depths Underground
نویسنده
چکیده
The Monte Carlo program ARROW, based on GEANT and using GHEISHA at energies below 30 GeV, is developed for simulation of the hadron and muon components of extensive air showers with primary energy 10 − 10 eV. Calculations of the characteristics of multi-muon events as observed underground by the LEP detectors are presented and their dependence on the primary cosmic ray composition and some basic assumptions of the hadronic interaction model is discussed. Simulation of Cosmic Ray Muon Flux at Shallow Depths Underground
Geant4 has been used to estimate the rate, energy spectrum and angular distribution of cosmic ray muons at underground depths between 300 and 1000 m.w.e. The results agree well with those from the MUSIC program when the same surface spectrum is used. Care has been taken to use a parameterization of the surface spectrum which agrees well with data for the relevant energies. 1 Goals Knowledge of ...
متن کاملSimulations of muon-induced neutron flux at large depths underground
The production of neutrons by cosmic-ray muons at large depths underground is discussed. The most recent versions of the muon propagation code MUSIC, and particle transport code FLUKA are used to evaluate muon and neutron fluxes. The results of simulations are compared with experimental data. r 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 96.40.Tv; 25.40.Sc; 25.30.Mr; 28:20: v
متن کاملCosmic multi-muon bundles measured at DELPHI
The DELPHI detector at LEP, located 100 m underground, has been used to detect the multimuon bundles by cathode readout of its hadron calorimeter and its tracking detectors (TPC, muon chambers). The experimental apparatus allows us to study muon bundles originating from primary cosmic particles with energies in the interval 10 10 eV . The cosmic events registered during the years 1999 and 2000 ...
